Fortunately I added support for such transparent borders already ;) (Admin 07:32, 3 October 2007 (CEST))

And some controls to match;

I just had an idea. Would it be possible to make all this graphics with a neutral color (e.g. white)? This way WindUI can colorize the bitmaps on demand (and let the user choose the color they want). (similar to vistas window border which also just get colorized). (Colorization is supported already and can be enabled with the DataCollection Editor)
btw, if you could upload this images as separate images I could implement them for a quick test.

I like these buttons (they look sleek...gives a kinda High class look). That SkyOS logo looks nice. But it would look even nicer if it was ray-traced in 3D : i.e with a real shadow behind, and with a real vanishing reflection under =^.^=

Making the elements a neutral color is not a problem, however the 'Shine' on the UI elements, is part of the image, so adding colorization to colorless elements with this 'Shine' on might produce some undesirable results. Could a 'Shine' be coded to appear on certain elements?
Also, the button has a border, how would the white part of the button be colorized, without colorizing the black rim? Colorless button images ;

This is actually a good question and thinking about it I think this is not possible. (at least not without major work when making such button images, for instance, defining areas which can be colorized,etc...) One thing which would be possible would be making various folders with dedicated images in it, like (red, blue, etc...). But I think we can safely post prone this and concentrate on a single color only.

Agreed, however, I don't see any reasons why it can't be done with window borders?

I like these a lot Alex. It would be interesting to see them in a color scheme that isn't so similar to "Human" (which obviously you were going for, as it was related to Ubuntu). -Kelly
